FTS100: Energy: Where Are We and What's Next
Gustavus Adolphus College
Fall Semester 2009
Course Description
Currently, the United States meets most of its energy needs through
fossil fuels (oil, coal, natural gas). These supplies are rapidly
diminishing, and there is growing concern about their environmental
effects. We will investigate some technical, economic, and political
aspects of the United States' dependence on fossil fuels. We will also
explore the possibilities and policy implications of shifting to
alternative energy sources such as nuclear, solar or wind energy.
